About the Position:
The Greyhound Foundation Board of Trustees is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as Executive Director/Grant Writer. The Executive Director/Grant Writer is responsible for the overall management of programs, fundraising and finances and will immerse him/herself into Shippensburg schools and civic communities. The role includes significant time devoted to fundraising and development, building and maintaining relationships with local businesses, civic organizations and the School District, as well as implementation of programs and management of volunteer committees. The Executive Director reports to and works closely with the Board of Trustees and is the principal spokesperson for the organization. The position is an Independent Contractor position based on approximately 25 hours per week. The hours and the work location shall be set by the contractor. The contract will be set at $25,000 annually, payable in monthly upon receipt of an invoice. Key responsibilities include: development/fundraising – together with the Board develop and execute fundraising and development objectives; community relationships - develop and maintain community contacts that further The Greyhound Foundation’s mission in the community and fundraising efforts; fiscal management/operations – assist the treasurer in developing an annual budget for approval by the Board; manage all funds (including EITC program), as well as accounting systems and procedures; responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance of databases and technology needs; program management – oversee programs and events, coordinate logistics, and oversee the grant-making process. Experience & Preferred Qualifications: strong leadership capacities including the ability to inspire others, work independently and take responsibility for moving the organization forward; experience with management and operations of a nonprofit and/or managerial experience in the business sector; experience with a broad spectrum of fundraising and development activities, and capacity for managing and building relationships with both individual and institutional donors; experience managing volunteers; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong public speaking skills; experience/knowledge of educational programs/administration; knowledge and understanding of the Shippensburg community a plus; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred; great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students and to impact the Shippensburg Area School District.
